The pinworm is also known as the seat worm or threadworm. It is a common parasite in the intestines of humans (especially children), but also in other vertebrates. It is often found in the large intestine and sometimes in the small intestine, stomach, or higher parts of the digestive tract. Adult parasites in the intestine can cause damage to the intestinal mucosa. Mild infections are asymptomatic, while severe infections can cause malnutrition and metabolic disorders. The female worms migrate and lay eggs in the anal canal, perianal area, and perineum, irritating the local skin and causing anal itching, and skin scratching can cause secondary inflammation. Patients often present with irritability, insomnia, loss of appetite, teeth grinding at night, and weight loss. Infants and children often show repeated crying and restless sleep at night. Long-term recurrent infections can affect the physical and mental health of children.
Ace Therapeutics specializes in parasitology and has established a parasite omics technology platform for a wide range of parasites. We provide genome-level omics services for pinworms, aiming to facilitate their pathogenesis, genetic characterization, and functional gene mining to advance basic research and the pharmaceutical industry.
We have a technical team with extensive experience in omics and can currently implement a variety of services for sequencing and analysis at the genomic level, as listed below. Upon completion of the service, we will deliver a detailed report to you. If you want to know more, you are welcome to consult us.
For species without a reference genome, the whole genome sequence of the pinworm can be obtained, leading to the development of a series of studies downstream of it, thus advancing the research of the species. After the completion of whole genome sequence mapping, the genome database of the species is constructed, and then gene mining, functional verification, and DNA sequence information are provided.
A large number of variants can be detected, including SNP, InDel, SV and CNV. Based on the detected variants, we can further study species characteristics, population evolutionary issues, and locate gene loci for target traits.
We can obtain high sensitivity and accuracy with a small amount of data, and can quickly screen for variants. All you need to do is provide samples and candidate regions, and we will complete the entire process from probe customization, hybridization, sequencing to bioinformatic analysis.
